A barcode scanner reads a code from a product, a document or a phone screen and sends the data to your POS software, 1C or warehouse system in a fraction of a second. All scanners in the catalog are 2D imager scanners: the camera captures the code and the decoding software recognizes it. That is why they read any barcode, including codes on smartphone screens and damaged or poorly printed labels.
How to choose a barcode scanner
- Which codes you need to read. Product marking under Asl Belgisi and medicines require a DataMatrix scanner, payments and e-receipts require a QR code scanner. MERTECH scanners read both.
- How far from the counter staff work. For bulky goods or warehouse work, choose a wireless barcode scanner with a range of up to 100 m.
- Checkout traffic. A small shop needs a corded handheld scanner; a supermarket benefits from a fixed-mount scanner that keeps the cashier's hands free.
- Working conditions. Warehouses and cold rooms need an IP54 or IP65 housing.
- Connection. Corded models connect via USB as a keyboard (USB-HID) or a virtual COM port; wireless models connect via Bluetooth or a USB dongle.

What is the difference between a 2D scanner and a laser scanner?
A laser scanner reads only 1D barcodes. A 2D scanner captures an image and decodes both linear and 2D codes, including QR codes on phone screens.
Do I need a driver to connect the scanner?
No. In USB-HID mode the computer sees the scanner as a keyboard.
